When composers create pieces for virtuoso performers, the works are referred to as toccottas. Designed by Don Killaby to highlight the superior craftsmanship for which CCN is reknowned, Tocotta is an articulate and elegant composition in wood detailed to permit the interplay of panel, pilaster, and worksurface in a multitude of finish and wood specie combinations. Drawing from the fine woodworking heritage of the French ebonistes in the early 1900's, Tocotta is transitional in nature, and can be comfortably integrated into a broad range of environs, from traditional to contemporary.
A thorough range of tables, desks, credenzas, overstorage, and upright cabinets is available. Particularly striking is the signature demilune table desk which merges a bold semi-circular form with magnificent sunburst pattern veneer panels and lightly scaled structure for a truly memorable statement.
Up to three finishes may be specified on most Tocotta pieces. Finish #1 is for vertical panels, doors, legs and the edge of worksurfaces, Finish #2 for the solid wood base and pilasters, and Finish #3 for worksurfaces. Any of CCN's sixteen standard cherry and maple finishes may be selected. Worksurfaces may also be specified in exotic veneers, leather, or a unique patterned grid of contrasting cherry and maple squares.
